Jour 1 :  Arrival in San Francisco

Welcome to San Francisco, America's most European and most tolerant city.

San Francisco has so much to offer... To start your trip, why not visit the observation tower of the de Young Museum with its unparalleled panoramic views of the city?

Or take an evening tour of Alcatraz prison, a unique and fascinating experience.

Jour 2 :  San Francisco  

Be sure to take a ride on one of San Francisco's historic cable cars: the most iconic San Francisco experience! The best time is early in the morning, before rush hour.

The children will enjoy watching the sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf or the marine animals at Aquarium of the Bay.

At the end of the day, why not walk across the Golden Gate Bridge? Sunset over the bridge is a moment of pure magic!

Jour 3 :  San Francisco  (122 km / 01h21)

Spend the morning enjoying San Francisco and its many attractions. You can pick up your motorhome between 1 and 4 p.m.

Tonight's accommodation is on the way to your next destination, to give you time to stock up on groceries and get used to the vehicle.

Jour 4 :  San Francisco / Yosemite  (193 km / 02h51)

This morning you set out along the scenic roads of California. As you travel east, you leave the Pacific Ocean behind and head into the mountains of Sierra Nevada (Spanish for "Snowy Mountains").

Your destination is Yosemite National Park, considered to be the "crown jewel" of the US National Parks System, and with good reason.

Jour 5 :  Yosemite  

This morning, make your way to Yosemite Valley. Turn right at the first intersection to reach "Tunnel View", a scenic overview with spectacular panoramic views of the entire park.

Families and the less athletically inclined will enjoy the trail leading to Yosemite Falls, an easy 30-minute walk through a dreamlike setting.

Be sure to take the winding mountain road to Glacier Point, where you will find the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley to be found in the park.

Jour 6 :  Yosemite / Sequoia National Park  (273 km / 03h36)

Your next destination is the impressive Sequoia National Park.

This protected enclave in the heart of the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains is home to a forest of giant sequoias. You are sure to feel tiny and insignificant among these magnificent natural giants.

Follow the winding road to the trail that leads to General Sherman Tree. With a height of 84 m and a circumference of 31 m, General Sherman is the largest living thing on earth!

Jour 7 :  Sequoia National Park  

Today you head for Moro Rock. The hike up Moro Rock, one of the most popular hikes in Sequoia National Park, is a classic, composed of over 350 steps in a picturesque one kilometre climb. The top of Moro Rock offers stunning views of the western section of the park and the Great Western Divide, the chain of mountains that divides Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park.

If you would prefer a longer hike, Big Baldy Trail in Kings Canyon Park takes about 2.5 hours to reach the top at an elevation of 8,209 feet.

Jour 8 :  Sequoia National Park / Los Angeles  (341 km / 03h36)

Continue your route towards Los Angeles, city of angels.

It's a well-known fact: L.A. beaches are legendary. Santa Monica Beach has a chic "resort" feel and is a good place to do some shopping. 

Or you can head to Venice Beach, L.A.'s artists community, for more of a bohemian atmosphere.

Jour 9 :  Los Angeles  

Today you get to take a look behind the scenes with a tour of a Hollywood studio. We recommend Universal Studio for families, or Warner Brothers. 

Along the way, you will have the chance to explore some of the sumptuous neighbourhoods of Beverly Hills, home of the stars.

Jour 10 :  Los Angeles / San Diego  (248 km / 02h35)

Young and old alike will have a hard time containing their excitement as you head for the ultimate family destination: San Diego!

This southern city boasts a number of famous amusement parks. And speaking of attractions, be sure to visit the San Diego Zoo, widely considered to be one of the best zoos in the world.

In addition to its major tourist attractions, San Diego also offers beautiful parks, beaches, mountains and natural landscapes.

Jour 11 :  San Diego  

Why not spend a leisurely day on one of the city's many beaches? Pacific Beach is your most beautiful and most lively option.

Don't miss the city's most iconic attractions: Balboa Park, Gaslamp Quarter and Old Town San Diego.  Also, the Reuben H. Fleet Museum is a must-see when travelling with children.

In the evening, relax and take in the sights on an outdoor cafe patio in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Jour 12 :  San Diego / Pismo Beach  (493 km / 04h52)

Your roadtrip continues towards Pismo Beach, a small city known for its beaches and sand dunes.

Make a stop along the way at Oceano Dunes State Recreation Area for some off-roading in the dunes.

At the end of the day you head for downtown Pismo Beach, where you can take a stroll along the beach after enjoying a good meal in one of the many local restaurants.

Jour 13 :  Pismo Beach / Monterey  (269 km / 02h41)

Today will be spent exploring the most beautiful section of Highway 1 along the California coast, considered by some to be the most stunning coastline in the world. You will want to stop often to admire the magnificent scenery.

The most scenic stop along Highway 1 is Big Sur. For lunch we recommend Nepenthe Restaurant, an outdoor cafe with magnificent ocean views.

Your destination is Monterey, a typical Californian coastal town.

Jour 14 :  Monterey  

If there's one thing you shouldn't miss in Monterey, it's the scenic "17-Mile Drive". This private road passes through Pebble beach, one of the richest and most famous residential communities on the west coast.

At the other end of "17 Mile Drive" you will find the charming town of Carmel, which is well worth the detour.

Once you reach Monterey, be sure to take a walk along the iconic Fisherman's Wharf.

Jour 15 :  Monterey / San Francisco  (136 km / 01h30)

You have one last morning to enjoy your American vacation before heading to the  San Francisco airport, where you board your return flight.
