Jour 1 :  Arrival in Los Angeles

Welcome to Los Angeles, city of angels.

Be sure to visit LA's main attractions: Hollywood studios and Hollywood Boulevard, a walk through Venice Beach and Santa Monica, the downtown skyscrapers and the Miracle Mile.

Jour 2 :  Los Angeles / Barstow  (226 km / 02h10)

Spend the morning enjoying the sights of Las Vegas.

You can pick up your motorhome between 1 and 4 p.m.

Jour 3 :  Barstow / Grand Canyon  (600 km / 05h38)

Today you head for the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the most impressive section of this natural wonder.

Begin your discovery of the Grand Canyon at Mather Point, which offers the most spectacular views of the park. Despite the crowds of visitors, an awed silence reigns before the majesty of the Grand Canyon.

Jour 4 :  Grand Canyon  

You won't want to miss Hermit Road while in Grand Canyon National Park.

Along this scenic route, which is accessible on foot or by shuttle bus, be sure to visit Mohave Point. This designated viewpoint offers panoramic views towards the west; you will have the impression that you are floating above the Grand Canyon.

Desert View Drive at sunset is another must-see experience of extraordinary beauty.  Highlights include Lipan Point, with its spectacular and colourful vistas.

Jour 5 :  Grand Canyon / Monument Valley  (288 km / 03h08)

The adventure continues towards Monument Valley, home of some of the most iconic landscapes of the Far West and Hollywood westerns.

Be sure to take the "Monument Valley scenic drive" and discover the beauty of this legendary region. However, the unpaved road is not recommended for motorhomes. You would be better off hiring a local Navajo guide who will take you on a tour in his jeep.

John Ford Point is the best viewpoint in the park, and the most accessible. There is no reason to miss it!

Jour 6 :  Monument Valley / Lake Powell  (212 km / 02h17)

Today you set out for Lake Powell, an area of great natural beauty where the lake's blue-green color is in stark contrast to the red-orange hues of the surrounding canyonlands.

Just before you reach the lake, be sure to stop at Horseshoe Bend, where you can take a 30-minute hike offering breathtaking views of the Colorado River.

At Lake Powell, the combinations of light, pattern and colour found in Antelope Canyon will leave you speechless.

Jour 7 :  Lake Powell / Bryce Canyon  (233 km / 02h29)

Today's destination is Bryce Canyon, one of the most spectacular national parks in the American Southwest.

Bryce Canyon National Park is a forest of tall, thin spires of sandstone ("hoodoos") scattered across a giant natural amphitheater.

Hiking enthusiasts won't want to miss Queen's Garden, where they will be able to take a close look at the rocky columns and arches. It's like being in another world.

Sunset Point offers breathtaking views of the canyon amphitheatre, with the best light occurring at sunset.

Jour 8 :  Bryce Canyon / Zion  (133 km / 01h46)

Your adventure continues in the direction of Zion National Park.

The area was named by the early Mormon settlers, for whom Zion meant "paradise", a name inspired by the unearthly beauty of the surroundings. 

Take the Zion - Mount Carmel Highway, preferably from east to west for the best views of the canyon.

You will want to stop at Canyon Overlook to admire the singular beauty of this remarkable park.

Jour 9 :  Zion  

Discover Zion on board the free shuttle bus, which will take you along the 13 kilometre long Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.

We recommend walking the Court of the Patriarchs trail for a view of the Patriarchs, three sandstone peaks more than 2000 metres high.

Continue along the scenic route to the Narrows, the narrowest section of the canyon.

Jour 10 :  Zion / Las Vegas  (280 km / 02h47)

Today you head for that most eccentric of Western US destinations, Las Vegas.

Begin your stay by visiting the top of the Stratosphere for a panoramic view of the city.

And be sure to enjoy the impressive Bellagio fountain show, an iconic Las Vegas attraction.

Your campground is conveniently located right in downtown Las Vegas.

Jour 11 :  Las Vegas / Mammoth Lakes  (532 km / 05h12)

Today's destination is Mammoth Lakes, a tourist resort nestled high in the mountains on the edge of a clear alpine lake.

Your drive will be a study in contrasts as you leave the desert for the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

The scenery is sure to take your breath away.

Jour 12 :  Mammoth Lakes / Yosemite  (512 km / 06h40)

This morning you will take the famous Tioga Road, a spectacular mountain pass that crosses the northern part of Yosemite National Park, today's destination.

Along the way, take a detour to Bodie, a legendary Old West ghost town, remnant of the gold rush. The town's history is fascinating.

Important note: If you are travelling between October and May, note that Tioga Road will be closed due to heavy snowfall. In this case, we will need to modify your itinerary so that you cross the park further to the south.

Jour 13 :  Yosemite / San Francisco  (193 km / 02h54)

This morning, make your way to Yosemite Valley. Turn right at the first intersection to reach "Tunnel View", a scenic overview with spectacular panoramic views of the entire park.

Families and the less athletically inclined will enjoy the trail leading to Yosemite Falls, an easy 30-minute walk through a dreamlike setting.

Be sure to take the winding mountain road to Glacier Point, where you will find the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley to be found in the park.

Continue your route to San Francisco, America's most European and most tolerant city.

You will be spending the night near San Francisco to facilitate the return of your motorhome. Accommodation

Jour 14 :  San Francisco  (121 km / 01h23)

Return your motorhome and its equipment before 11 a.m. this morning.

San Francisco has so much to offer... Why not start your stay with a visit to the observation tower of the de Young Museum with its unparalleled panoramic views of the city?

The children will enjoy watching the sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf or the marine animals at Aquarium of the Bay.

At the end of the day, why not walk across the Golden Gate Bridge? Sunset over the bridge is a moment of pure magic!
