Detailed itinerary

 

Day 1 :  Arrival in Salt Lake City

Welcome to Salt Lake City, the center of Mormon history and culture.

Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics of 2002.

Day 2 :  Salt Lake City  (5 km / 00h11)

Don't miss a visit to Temple Square, the centrepiece of the city, with its buildings and attractions steeped in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: a must-see for anyone interested in learning more about this major modern religion.

You can pick up your motorhome between 1 and 4 p.m. 

Your campground is located not far from the city centre.

Day 3 :  Salt Lake City / Capitol Reef  (343 km / 03h20)

Why not make a stop at Capitol Reef National Park to admire its spectacular and colourful sandstone formations, cliffs and gorges.

To get there, we recommend taking Route 24 which offers sublime desert landscapes.

In Capitol Reef National Park, Capitol Gorge Trail is a fairly easy, very scenic hiking trail with many points of interest along the way.

Day 4 :  Capitol Reef

Day 5 :  Capitol Reef / Arches National Park  (254 km / 02h37)

Today you head for the town of Moab, the perfect base from which to explore several great American parks including Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

You will quickly discover what makes this area the ultimate open-air playground for anyone who loves mountain biking, hiking and the great outdoors!

Day 6 :  Arches National Park  

As its name indicates, Arches National Park is known for its vast number of natural sandstone arches.

Don't miss Fiery Furnace, a labyrinth of narrow passageways and abrupt dead-ends among a series of sandstone features.

Wait to visit Delicate Arch in the evening, when the sandstone takes on a magnificent red hue in the sunset light. Delicate Arch is the park's most beautiful arch and one of Utah's most famous icons.

Day 7 :  Excursion to Canyonlands

Today we suggest that you visit Canyonlands National Park, a 30-minute drive from Moab.

Don't miss Shafer Trail, formerly used by cowboys to herd cattle into the canyon. This is where the final scene of "Thelma and Louise" was filmed, in which the two protagonists drive their car off the edge of a cliff into a canyon.

Inside the park, families will enjoy the short hike to Mesa Arch which leads to the edge of the plateau and a MAG-NI-FI-CENT view of the park.

Keep going to the end of the road, where you will find Grand View Point Overlook, offering expansive and breathtaking views of this larger-than-life park.

Day 8 :  Arches National Park / Flaming Gorge  (427 km / 04h45)

Today's destination is Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.

Take Route 191 through Ashley National Forest and take the time to make a stop at Flaming Gorge Dam, an impressive concrete thin-arch dam 153 m high and 392 m long.

Your campground is on the other side of the Green River, in a dense pinyon pine and juniper forest.

Day 9 :  Flaming Gorge / Grand Teton  (453 km / 05h08)

Today you will pay a visit to Grand Teton National Park, named by 19th-century French trappers.

Soaring to a height of 4000 m, the Teton Range is the most spectacular mountain chain in North America.

Grand Teton National Park has some of the most ancient rocks found in any US National Park, with the oldest dating from more than two billion years ago.

Day 10 :  Grand Teton  

It is time to discover the highlights of this remarkable park!

We highly recommend taking the Teton Village Aerial Tram, which will whisk you up into the sky. In just 12 minutes the tram glides an amazing 1200 metres up to the top of Rendezvous Mountain, to an altitude of more than 3000 metres.

The staggering 360-degree view at the summit will take your breath away! 

Many hikers choose to take the steep, 16 km long Granite Canyon Trail back down the mountain.

Day 11 :  Grand Teton / Yellowstone  (121 km / 01h53)

This morning, you drive north through Grand Teton National Park to reach another iconic natural beauty, Yellowstone National Park.

While this park is well known for its colourful hot springs, powerful geysers and impressive canyon, it is also a major wildlife sanctuary.

The geyser is a symbol of Yellowstone, home to the majority of the world's geysers. During your visit, you can count on the regular eruptions of Old Faithful. Be sure to visit Upper Geyser Basin and Biscuit Basin, where you will have the chance to see a wide variety of thermal features. You can also take a short hike out to "Fairy Falls": the trail offers a spectacular view of the colourful Grand Prismatic Spring!

Day 12 :  Yellowstone  

Try to get up early enough to take in the sunrise over Yellowstone Lake: a truly magical moment!

Abundant wildlife can be seen freely roaming the landscape here in Yellowstone National Park, a delight for visitors of all ages. You will want to keep your camera close at hand!

Spend some time exploring Canyon Village. Upper Falls and Lower Falls are simply magnificent. Be sure to hike to Artist Point for stunning views and photo opportunities!

You then follow the scenic "Grand Loop Road", from which you will be able to see many of the beautiful geysers and hot springs that have made Yellowstone National Park famous.

Day 13 :  Yellowstone  

This morning, you head south to the natural beauty of Yellowstone National Park.


Today you will explore the Mammoth Hot Springs area, one of the park's most unique attractions. This fascinating site will amaze you with its calcium carbonate formations, which are often described as natural sculpture. Don't miss Canary Springs, Liberty Cap and the travertine terraces! You will also have the chance to bathe in the natural hot springs!

Day 14 :  Yellowstone / Salt Lake City  (613 km / 07h16)

It is time to head back to Salt Lake City.

After a long day on the road, take a well-deserved break on Antelope Island, where you will spend your last night in the USA.

In addition to a herd of 600 bison, the island is home to large populations of antelope, deer, coyote, bighorn sheep and water birds.

Day 15 :  Salt Lake City  (68 km / 00h52)

You have one last morning to enjoy your American vacation.

You return your motorhome before 11 a.m. and then head for the Salt Lake City airport, where you board your return flight.

It's time to leave the land of Uncle Sam, full of memories that will last a lifetime!!!
